    🔑 Key Difference

    • Lend means to give something temporarily to someone, expecting it to be returned.
    • Borrow means to take something from someone temporarily, with the plan to return it later.

    📖 Lend

    • Definition: When you give something to someone for a short period.
    • Examples:
      • “Can you lend me your pen?” (You are asking someone to give you their pen temporarily.)
      • “She lent her car to her friend for the weekend.” (She gave her car to her friend, expecting it back.)

Lend is used when you are the person giving the object or service.

    📖 Borrow

    • Definition: When you take something from someone for a short period, with the intention of returning it.
    • Examples:
      • “Can I borrow your pen?” (You are asking to take someone’s pen for a while.)
      • “He borrowed money from the bank to buy a house.” (He took money from the bank, planning to pay it back.)

Borrow is used when you are the person receiving or taking something temporarily.

    🛠️ Visual Aid

Think of lend as “giving” 👐, and borrow as “taking” 🤲. Easy, right?

    🎭 Analogy

Imagine you’re at school. If your friend doesn’t have a pencil, you can lend one to them (you give it). But if you don’t have a pencil, you ask to borrow one (you take it).

    📚 Varied Examples

    • Basic:
      • “I lent her my book.”
      • “He borrowed my jacket.”
    • Advanced:
      • “My neighbor lent me his lawnmower because mine was broken.”
      • “Can I borrow your laptop for my presentation tomorrow?”

    💡 Common Mistakes

❌ Incorrect: “Can you borrow me your car?”
✅ Correct: “Can you lend me your car?”

❌ Incorrect: “I want to lend a pen from you.”
✅ Correct: “I want to borrow a pen from you.”

    📝 Practice Time!

Fill in the blanks with lend or borrow:

    1. I need to _______ some money from the bank.
    2. She asked if she could _______ my notes for the class.
    3. Can you _______ me your phone charger?
